ARK Survived Evolved

If you love dinosaurs and survival games I suggest you keep reading.

Overview

Ark: Survival Evolved is a sandbox survival game developed and published by Studio Wildcard. Players are stranded on a lush tropical island inhabited by mammoth dinosaurs. Survive by scavenging resources to craft tools and build a home to withstand the elements. Pick seeds and plant them, collecting dinosaur excrement to fertilize your farm. Or build improvised weapons to hunt prehistoric beasts for their hides and meat. As you play you level up in RPG fashion, earning points to increase your stats and unlocking new craftable items. Tame ancient reptiles with food to assist you as defense, or ride them to fly, swim, and run faster across the sprawling landscape. Every animal in Ark obeys a predatorial hierarchy and wanders a specific ecosystem; tamed Dodo birds won’t do much good against a pack of velociraptors. While dinosaurs pose a threat, it’s humans who will kill you without mercy or provocation. Join a tribe with other players and create a thriving community, sharing resources and working together to survive. Or, raid other tribes for loot, in fast-paced and brutal PvP.

History

Work on Ark: Survival Evolved began in October 2014. Studio Wildcard, co-opted Egypt-based developer Instinct Games to facilitate development; Efecto Studios and Virtual Basement later assisted development. When researching for information about the game’s prehistoric species, the development team read “general audience books” and online articles, and sought assistance from friends who studied in the fields of biological sciences. When creating the species and world, the team took a creative license for gameplay purposes, although there is an in-game reason that the species have diverged from their historical counterparts. Many of the development team members were inspired by dinosaur films such as Jurassic Park and The Land Before Time.

Single-player vs Multiplayer

Single-player allows you to customize the harvest and taming rates. However, you can find you get bored on singleplayer because there’s no one to talk to or raid or have those cool PvP interactions or anything with. However, on multiplayer you have the fun of interacting with other people and raiding other bases however it is hard to find a server that is opening and not toxic. Personally, I prefer Multiplayer because it allows me to have more competition and an end goal.

Closing thoughts

In the end, I would rate ARK a 3.5-5. This is due to how laggy the game can be and how many bugs there are. If they fixed more of these bugs I would definitely rate the game higher. So if you like dinosaurs and survival you should definitely get ARK Survival Evolved.
